WINNERS & LOSERS

Very proud of Bella this week, when she won the Yr6 Youth Speaks competition run by The Rotary Club, with her speech on oranges.

With sports day already cancelled once due to the bad weather, we were lucky on Monday, when the sun shone and it was able to go ahead. The blue team (which the girls are in) won the day.
Losers........well that had to be the day we lost the vote to  remain in Europe, and Brexit won by a very small majority. There hasn't been a lot to be positive about since, just a lot of lies, politicians resigning, and the exchange rate plummeting (just before we go on holiday)I hope it all works out for the sake of the girls, trying to stay optimistic, but I have a feeling its going to take a long long time.

School Book Day saw Mabel dress as The Cat In The Hat

she then proceeded to walk home along the beach, on the ferry and a quick stop at the pub, still dressed up as The Cat In The Hat.

New makes this week included some new upcycled Marvel Comic fabric dresses

and some Paddington Bear dresses

and some ladies dresses and a top

I've also been making these little bags from scraps of fabric I had left over from my dresses, and they've been very popular.

This week we started a Summer Sale. There's 25% OFF over on the website, so there's lots of bargains!

IS THIS SUMMER?

I forgot to mention in my last blog post about Bella's news. On June 10th after three weeks of nail biting and worrying (by Bella) we finally found out that she had secured a place as a JA, a Junior Associate position to train with the Royal Ballet in Dartington, every Saturday for a year. Really proud and relieved, but maybe not quite ready for the "intense, competitive ballet Mums" of Dartington.

Girls were also really happy when the Blues won the school sports day, Mabel was made up that she won the egg and spoon race.

Our little town hosted its annual Folk Festival, there was a lot of this cropping up all over town, and ale drinking hairy men in corduroys.

I was luck to come across another piece of Star Wars fabric and made another six dresses, five of which sold straight away.

and two new Spiderman fabric dress

21st June was Fathers Day, so we went out for Sunday lunch with the grandparents. I love these 'together' photos if only they came naturally.

Mabel is currently dinosaur mad, she has a huge collection she is constantly adding to. Can you find girls clothing with dinosaurs on?.......probably not too many, so we made our own.  Mabel's dress has long sleeves, and I had enough material to make a little range of short sleeve dresses and pinafores which I sold almost immediately.  Good to know you are not alone with your love of dinosaurs Mabel.

And just a couple of vintage Winnie The Pooh.

All work no play? of course not, we had a bit of a 'Summer Gathering.' I had perfected my vodka jellies and new Gin & Tonic ice lollies, the weather and the company was great, which was reflected in the last guest leaving at 6am!

It took me a good few days to recover, but what a lovely place to recuperate. I think Summer could finally be here!

WORK, REST & PLAY

New makes in the past two weeks have included these
lovely lawn cotton short sleeve dress and some lovely upcycled Scandinavian fabric shift dresses.

School sports day was upon us again and this was Mabel's first, she took part in the hopper and the egg and spoon, whilst Bella sprinted

Bought these fantastic pieces of 70's fabric, they are both originally from Marks & Spencers.  I've upcycled them into a couple of lovely Missy Bags and some beautiful little dresses for girls and ladies (think I may have to have one for my holidays)

Because of the size of the pattern I decided to go up a size on this dress which meant I could get Bella back in front of the camera.

It's definitely not been all work and no play this month, we've had some fabulous times entertaining at home and down on the beach in the sun with friends.

Pimms in the garden followed by dinner

Lovely morning in on Shaldon beach after dropping off the girls at school.

Always pleased when old friends come to visit, and this month my friend Angela traveled down from Kingston with her daughter Emma and an unwanted rocking horse. We spent a lot of time in the sunshine on the beach and drinking a few bottles of Presecco.

Watching the sunset on the back beach Teignmouth

A much loved new addition to the family - Hamish the horse

June 21st (the longest day) back on the beach with a group of friends and children to celebrate. A lovely time we had too dispite the really disappointing barbeque food!

More lovely Scandinavian fabrics upcycled this time into four ladies shift dresses.
