THE LAST OF THE HEAT

On the 18th September we headed off for a much deserved family holiday to Spain. We haven't been on a Summer holiday during  term time since the girls were tiny. It was such a treat, as the queues were non existent and the airport was virtually child free.

Blue skies, lovely temperature, fresh fruit, a swimming pool, a good book and a gin and tonic.  What more could you want?

While we were there, we celebrated Harry's birthday with a meal at Siete De Julio (The 7th July) (the day of the running of the bulls.) Not for the vegetarians, this restaurant speciality is beef, which arrives on the table ready for you to cook as you require on coals. Accompanied by some tasty tapas, including cod omelette, jamon and chorizo all washed down with as much free cider as you can manage from the barrels.

Temperatures were still in the 20's in Valencia in the evening. It was so lovely to enjoy wandering around the city watching the world go by, visiting some new bars, eating tapas and a night at the Hotel Reina Victoria

After our homemade Sunday paella we took the girls into Valencia. Unknown to us it was no vehicles weekend, which made wandering around the city so much more pleasant. We were lucky enough to come across the Valencian Orchestra, who were playing film score music in the square. (look at the colour of that sky at 9.30)

Back home and the start of a new season of dresses.

treatment update

I had another pump up before I left for holiday, I've just got another small one left which I'm having on Tuesday. I had my three month heart check, which confirmed everything is good with my heart so I can carry on with the herceptin injections, (I had my 5th one on Friday)   Although I seem to be a regular visitor to the hospital, the appointments don't fill me with fear like they used to, waiting for results was something I dreaded, and hope thats all behind me.

ROBOTS, UNICORNS & SPIDERMAN

The girls started back at school at the beginning of the month (it's been that long since I've done a blog post.) Bella started on the next stage of her education and began secondary school.

Lots of new dresses and lots of modelling work for Mabel

SUPER HEROES, SUPER FRIENDS

As Christmas approaches this year I've decided not to run myself ragged with Christmas Fairs so I'm only doing three.  I've been making a few little £5  stocking fillers to go on the stall including these felt woodland masks

and these little bags, always good as stocking fillers or present bags

We were well prepared for the Superhero Children In Need Day at school.

Continuing the Superhero theme I've been making more Marvel Comic dresses

and some new Star Wars dresses

and a collection of Spiderman dresses

As always we managed to fit a good old fashioned dinner party in before the Christmas rush, and a good excuse to practice the mulled cider recipe.

SPIDERMAN, JELLY FISH & GINGER CAKE

New makes for this week have been these upcycled Spiderman fabric dresses, with loose sleeves, an elasticated neckline and a little tie detail.

Some more book bags with a little "bling" twist £12

I found a small piece of this lovely Roald Dahl Fantastic Mr Fox fabric, just enough to make one little dress Age 3-4

Using up all my little pieces of fabric. I've now used up all this lovely Scandinavian Bubble fabric and made two new dresses.

Two more London Underground dresses Ages 5-6 & 7-8.  Mabel has finally got the hang of the modelling and realises that the quicker we get it finished, and she comes up with all the right poses, the quicker she gets her money and can move onto other things.

 Lovely Camper fabric

Upcycled Katz Ballerina fabric. There's only enough room for one ballerina in the house, and Mabel and I are quite happy for it to be Bella, but she tried her best to look the part.

Always nice to see photos of customers, and these two little twins are two of my best, their dad regularly buys my dresses.

Great fascination to the girls and myself are these giant jelly fish that are being washed up on the beaches around here, apparently coming in from the Atlantic to the warmer waters.  After getting over the shock of seeing so many we could only feel a little bit sorry for them. Walking over the bridge to school we've seen them swimming in the river and they are truly spectacular!

Three in a row.

Although there hasn't been a lot of sun so far this year, when we can, we walk the mile to school, and what a beautiful walk it is too!

Girls safely at school, I treat myself with coffee and ginger cake sitting by the river, before starting my day. Very lucky!
