A JUBILEE AND A WEDDING

Bella finished school on Thursday, and we all left for London, which is something we all look forward to.  We arrived on Friday afternoon, and it was straight on the tube to the V&A, a place I used to enjoy visiting on those rainy Sundays when there was nothing much going on.

From here we walked down to Knightsbridge to show Bella Harrods, where Harry and I salivated all the way around the food hall, the girls were not impressed!
Back on the underground, which now takes on such a different concept with two young children and
a buggy. What used to be just a way of getting from A to B, becomes an obstacle course of escalators, stairs and making sure you hadn't forgotten anyone or anything!

Back above ground we finished our first day with a visit to The Gourmet Burger Bar.

Saturday we were off on a mission. With Jubilee celebrations already under way we headed for Oxford Street and then onto Liberty's where we had tea and cake and wandered amongst lots of things I wanted to buy.

The fabulous Carnaby Street.

We left Carnaby Street and all it's Jubilee festivities for a promised visit to Hamleys (5 floors of toys) where Mabel chose what she was having (a lion) in five minutes, Bella took a little longer!

Leaving Hamleys, it was time for lunch and Pizza Express in the sun in St Christophers Place. Back on the underground and over to the South Bank where we did toy with the idea of going on the London eye until we saw the crowds, so we wandered down to Gabrielle's Wharf for a drink. All tired out we joined the crowds underground and headed back for a much needed rest before the wedding on Sunday.

We woke on Sunday to rain which was such a shame as the weather had been good for so long. Anna and Jake married at Ealing registry office in Ealing, and I met up with people I hadn't seen for twenty years (very emotional all round!)

Still raining, the day finished with Chinese lanterns and a taxi home.  A great wedding, and a great couple of days in London!
